The Pennsylvania State University is hiring a Temporary Part-Time Camera Operator at Penn State University Park to support live event security operations during the 2026 home football season. Working within the Office of Physical Security, this role operates and monitors a campus video management system in real time, feeding situational intelligence directly to University Police and Public Safety command staff during game-day operations. It suits a security or surveillance professional with a steady eye for incident tracking across multiple live feeds under high-stakes conditions.

About the Role

This Camera Operator sits inside the public safety operations structure, not a traditional film or broadcast crew, but the core skill set crosses over directly from live event camera monitoring and multi-screen video operations work. Every home game, this person is the eyes of the command team, tracking crowd movement, incidents, and persons of interest across a network of campus security cameras. Shifts are event-based and may run 10 to 12 hours, covering pre-game setup through post-game clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and control security cameras across the campus video management system throughout live football game operations and related events.
  • Monitor multiple simultaneous live video feeds and relay real-time situational information to University Police and Public Safety personnel at the command level.
  • Track and locate individuals, vehicles, and areas of interest as directed by law enforcement staff during active incidents.
  • Maintain sustained situational awareness across long operational windows, responding quickly as conditions change on the ground.
  • Communicate clearly with command staff and complete all required operational documentation with accuracy and discretion.
  • Handle sensitive law enforcement information with strict confidentiality and follow all established security monitoring protocols.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Prior hands-on experience with video surveillance systems or security monitoring in a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with video management systems such as Victor or comparable live event monitoring platforms.
  • Background in public safety, law enforcement, security operations, or emergency management.
  • Proven ability to stay focused and make sound judgments during high-pressure, multi-screen monitoring situations.

Why This Role

The Pennsylvania State University runs one of the largest collegiate public safety operations in the country, and this Camera Operator role puts you inside that infrastructure for every 2026 home game. The starting rate for this position is $25 per hour. For operators looking to build credits in live event surveillance and large-venue security monitoring, this is direct, practical experience with a credible institution.

Apply now for the Temporary Part-Time Camera Operator role with The Pennsylvania State University and bring your video monitoring skills to one of college football’s biggest stages.
