This role sits at the center of daily broadcast news production, responsible for building rundowns, writing copy, coordinating reporter packages, and taking live newscasts through the control room from open to close. About the Role

This position operates within the local news department of one of FOX’s 29 full power broadcast stations, a network that collectively produces approximately 1,200 hours of local news per week. Day-to-day work moves between the newsroom and the control room, with occasional field and studio time, covering everything from routine editorial meetings to live breaking news situations. The producer carries full responsibility for the editorial shape and technical execution of assigned newscasts, plus periodic oversight of special productions and station-sponsored live coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage show rundowns, selecting and sequencing stories across local, national, and international news for broadcast television air.
  • Write and copy edit broadcast-style news copy optimized for on-air delivery as well as online and digital platform distribution.
  • Coordinate with reporters on package development, presentation style, and story execution from assignment desk through final cut.
  • Create and supervise graphics elements to support on-air storytelling within the newscast.
  • Operate newsroom computer systems, video screening tools, intercom systems, and related broadcast production equipment during live show execution.
  • Produce or oversee special projects and live coverage of station events, working alongside news managers and assignment desk staff on editorial planning.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a closely related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience producing broadcast news, with a working knowledge of newsroom computer systems and control room workflow.
  • Strong broadcast writing skills, including the ability to write clean copy under deadline for both linear television and digital platforms.
  • Proven ability to execute live news production, including real-time rundown adjustments during breaking news coverage.
  • Familiarity with standard broadcast production equipment used in local television newsrooms.
