Job Position(s): Production Risk Manager, Studios Risk Management, Studios Risk Management

Amazon MGM Studios is hiring a Production Risk Manager to join their Studios Risk Management team in Culver City, CA. This role sits at the center of insurance placement, contract review, and claims management across a global slate of feature film and episodic television productions. It suits an experienced risk professional who understands how production timelines, international co-productions, and multi-vendor contracts translate into real coverage decisions.

About the Role

The Studios Risk Management team handles insurance strategy across Movies, Scripted Series, and Unscripted Series produced and financed by Amazon MGM Studios. This Production Risk Manager works daily alongside Physical Production, Production Finance, Legal, Health and Safety, and Post Production teams to assess coverage needs and manage active broker relationships. The work moves at the pace of a global production slate, requiring someone who can shift between policy analysis, underwriting submissions, and contract review without losing detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret insurance policy provisions and advise internal production teams on contractual terms, conditions, and coverage application across feature film and episodic television productions.
• Gather and prepare underwriting submission packages for policy renewals, including analysis of production-specific risk factors tied to location, cast, and crew.
• Evaluate policy quotes from brokers and negotiate pricing and coverage terms for specialized production insurance, then present recommendations to production executives and the risk management lead.
• Review Cast coverage regularly across all assigned productions to confirm continuity of coverage through production close.
• Analyze production contracts including location agreements, equipment rentals, and independent contractor and service provider agreements to identify coverage gaps or liability exposure.
• Monitor broker service levels across the production risk network and work with Production, Legal, and Finance to ensure SLA commitments are met.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated experience in entertainment insurance or production risk management, with direct exposure to feature film production or scripted television.
• Working knowledge of production insurance lines including Cast, E&O, General Liability, and Foreign Package policies.
• Proven ability to review and interpret production contracts from a risk and coverage standpoint.
• Experience interfacing with insurance brokers and underwriters, including international markets.
• Comfort working within a small team managing a high volume of concurrent productions across multiple formats and territories.

Why This Role

Amazon MGM Studios operates one of the most active production slates in the industry, spanning theatrical releases, streaming originals, and unscripted programming across global markets. The risk management team functions as a genuine partner to production rather than a back-office function, which means real visibility into how decisions are made at the studio level. For a risk professional who wants to build a career in studio production risk management, the scope and variety of this role are hard to match.
