Job Position(s): Intern, Film Development- Spring 2027
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Internship
Compensation: Paid Internship

Legendary Entertainment is hiring a Film Development Intern for Spring 2027, based out of their Los Angeles offices. This role sits inside the film development department, where the intern supports the creative pipeline by reading and evaluating material, tracking projects in active development, and helping move scripts from consideration to greenlight. It is a strong fit for a film student or recent graduate who wants hands-on exposure to how a major feature film production company builds its slate from the ground up.

About the Role

The film development department at Legendary works across a broad slate of feature films, sourcing and developing material that spans genre, IP, and original concepts. Day to day, this intern works alongside development executives, engaging with the full script-to-screen development process, from initial submission through notes and revisions. Expect to spend real time reading, writing coverage, and sitting in on meetings where actual decisions about projects get made.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and write coverage on submitted scripts, novels, and other source material being considered for feature film development.
  • Track the status of projects across the development slate using internal tracking systems and spreadsheets maintained by the department.
  • Research comparable titles, box office performance, and source material to support creative and business decisions made by development executives.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining submission logs, release schedules, and materials related to projects in active development.
  • Participate in department meetings and take notes that capture key creative decisions, feedback, and next steps for projects under consideration.
  • Support executives with general administrative tasks that keep the development pipeline running, including coordinating materials and managing correspondence.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment in or recent completion of a film, screenwriting, or entertainment industry program at an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated interest in feature film development, with some coursework or independent study focused on story structure and script analysis.
  • Working knowledge of standard industry coverage formats and the ability to write clearly and quickly under a deadline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for tracking and Word for writing coverage and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects moving at different speeds inside a studio development environment.

Why This Role

Legendary Entertainment is behind some of the most commercially significant feature films of the past two decades, including the Monsterverse franchise and Dune, which gives this internship real weight on a resume. Interns here work inside the actual development process, not around it, which is uncommon at a studio of this scale. This is a Spring 2027 position based in Los Angeles, with compensation details to be confirmed through the application process.
