This role sits squarely in the broadcast news production workflow, responsible for shooting and editing content across 14.5 hours of daily on-air coverage as well as streaming channels, social platforms, and digital apps. It suits a working news photographer or editor who can own a story from field to final cut without hand-holding.

About the Role

The Multi-Platform Editor/Videographer works directly alongside reporters and producers inside a live broadcast news environment, where the output spans linear television, OTT streaming, and social video. A typical day involves shooting in the field, cutting packages and VO-SOTs to deadline, and pushing content across multiple distribution platforms before the next hit. Nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays are part of the rotation, which is standard for a market-level news operation of this size.

Key Responsibilities

• Shoot and edit local news packages, VO-SOTs, and natural sound pieces that hold up on both broadcast and digital platforms.
• Operate professional broadcast cameras, LiveU backpack units, iPhones, and FAA-compliant drones for ENG and breaking news coverage.
• Cut content using non-linear editing systems to meet hard broadcast deadlines across daily newscasts.
• Produce and post social video edits, supporting the station’s digital distribution strategy across news and weather apps.
• Coordinate live shots and teases in the field with reporters, managing technical setup under deadline pressure.
• Respond to breaking news as needed, including last-minute schedule changes and extended field assignments in all weather conditions.

What You Bring

• 1 to 2 years of non-linear TV news editing or broadcast news photography experience at a professional level.
• Proficiency with Avid Media Composer or Adobe After Effects is preferred.
• Hands-on knowledge of live broadcast equipment including live trucks, ENG backpacks, and field cameras.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record, ability to lift up to 50 pounds of gear, and availability for flexible shift scheduling.
• Solid news judgment, working knowledge of journalistic ethics, and familiarity with libel law basics.
