Job Position(s): ENG Camera Operator/Editor- Gippsland
Project Type: Commercial
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

WIN Television Network is hiring an ENG Camera Operator/Editor based in Traralgon, VIC, to join its regional news operation serving the Gippsland area. This role sits across two core production disciplines, shooting in the field for daily news and current affairs coverage, then cutting that footage for broadcast within tight turnaround windows. It suits a working professional who is comfortable carrying a story from the first shot all the way through to a finished package ready for air.

About the Role

The position sits within the WIN Television Network news department in the La Trobe Valley, feeding content into a broadcast television workflow that covers regional stories across Gippsland. A typical day involves heading out solo or with a reporter to cover local news events, conducting shoots under varying conditions, then returning to the station to edit sequences and voice packages for the evening bulletin. The dual nature of ENG camera operation and post-production editing means this person owns the full broadcast journalism production pipeline from acquisition to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate ENG camera equipment across a range of field conditions, including breaking news, community events, and planned feature stories throughout the Gippsland region.
  • Edit news packages to broadcast specifications using non-linear editing software, cutting to time and matching the station’s established style and pacing.
  • Manage audio acquisition in the field, including lavalier and shotgun microphone setup, levels, and clean recording under deadline pressure.
  • Work directly with reporters and producers to shape story structure during the edit, making sequence and cutaway decisions that serve the narrative.
  • Maintain, transport, and report on the condition of camera and editing equipment, flagging technical issues through the appropriate production channels.
  • Deliver finished broadcast television segments on deadline, coordinating handoff with the news gallery and production team ahead of scheduled bulletins.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience as an ENG Camera Operator/Editor in a news, current affairs, or broadcast television environment.
  • Proficiency with professional non-linear editing platforms used in broadcast post-production workflow, such as Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • A current Australian driver’s licence, given the regional and often remote nature of field assignments across Gippsland.
  • Working knowledge of broadcast camera systems and the technical requirements of content destined for commercial television transmission.
  • Ability to self-manage across both production and post-production phases without a dedicated support crew on most assignments.

Why This Role

WIN Television Network is Australia’s largest commercial television network by geographic footprint, which means regional roles like this one carry real editorial weight and visibility within the organisation. Working in Traralgon puts this ENG Camera Operator/Editor at the centre of a tight-knit news team covering a genuinely varied regional beat, with direct access to decision-makers rather than layers of management. For a camera operator and editor who wants ownership of their work and a clear contribution to a broadcast news product, this is a substantive position.

Apply now for the ENG Camera Operator/Editor role with WIN Television Network and bring your production skills to one of Australia’s most established regional broadcast operations.
