Freelance Camera Operator

Milkman, a media production house based in The Hague, Netherlands, is looking for a Freelance Camera Operator to join their rotating crew. This is a camera department role covering a genuine mix of scripted commercial production, run-and-gun branded content, and studio product work shot across their in-house cyclorama and client locations. It suits an experienced operator who is comfortable moving between tightly boarded shoots and looser, find-it-on-the-day productions without losing their eye.

About the Role

Milkman works with DTC and B2B brands on an ongoing media basis, which means the camera work is continuous rather than campaign-by-campaign, and the range of formats is real. On any given week, a Freelance Camera Operator here might be executing a lit commercial alongside a director, then switching to solo branded content on location the next day. The through-line is always whether the frame serves the story, not just the look.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate camera on commercial video production and branded content shoots, working to a director’s vision or taking the lead when the brief is loose.
• Set up and execute lighting for studio shoots inside a cyclorama environment, adapting to both product-focused and talent-led setups.
• Run single-operator production on location, managing exposure, movement, and composition without a dedicated crew around you.
• Collaborate with the director in pre-production to assess shot lists and flag any technical or logistical considerations before the shoot day.
• Maintain camera and support gear on set, whether working with Milkman’s own equipment or bringing a personal kit.
• Hold the quality bar on set when schedules slip, keeping the production moving without cutting corners on the frame.

What You Bring

• Around five years of experience as a camera operator across commercial video production, branded content, or similar short-form formats.
• A reel that demonstrates real range, not just one type of shoot or aesthetic.
• Solid instincts for composition and light built through production experience, not just technical training.
• Blackmagic camera systems experience and familiarity with DaVinci Resolve are a plus.
• Based in or near The Hague and available for on-set work, no driving licence required.

Why This Role

Milkman runs media continuously for their clients, so operators who fit the team tend to see steady, varied work rather than one-off days. The setup is a proper production environment, with an edit suite and studio on site, and a small team that treats the craft seriously. For a Freelance Camera Operator looking to grow, there is a clear path into larger productions as the slate expands.
