Videographer for the 2026 World Children’s Festival on the National Mall on July 25-27
- Full Time
- Washington, DC, US
International Child Art Foundation
The International Child Art Foundation is hiring a Videographer for the 2026 World Children’s Festival on the National Mall in Washington, DC. This is a field production role focused on capturing event coverage footage across three full days of live programming, producing a visual record of performances, installations, and crowd engagement for a large-scale public festival. The role suits a working videographer or photographer with experience in documentary-style or event video production who is comfortable shooting independently in a busy outdoor environment.
About the Role
The Videographer for the 2026 World Children’s Festival on the National Mall works as a one-person production unit, operating within a live event coverage context rather than a scripted or crew-heavy shoot. On July 25, 26, and 27, from 10 am to 5 pm each day, you will document one of the largest children’s arts festivals in the world as it unfolds across America’s most recognized public space. The footage and stills captured will serve the International Child Art Foundation’s archive, press, and outreach needs following the event.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate camera and capture broadcast-quality event coverage footage across three consecutive days of live festival programming on the National Mall.
- Shoot documentary-style sequences of performances, interactive art activities, and attendee moments as they happen in real time.
- Manage your own equipment setup and breakdown each day within the festival footprint, adapting to changing light and crowd conditions.
- Capture still photography alongside video to supply the foundation with usable assets across both formats.
- Coordinate briefly with festival organizers at the top of each day to identify priority shoots, key moments, and scheduled programming.
- Deliver organized, labeled raw footage and image files to the International Child Art Foundation following the conclusion of the festival.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience in event video production, documentary cinematography, or run-and-gun field production.
- Proficiency operating your own camera system in outdoor, natural-light environments with variable conditions.
- A working knowledge of still photography with the ability to switch between photo and video capture throughout a shoot day.
- Ability to work all three days, July 25, 26, and 27, though candidates available for two of the three days are encouraged to apply.
- No union or guild affiliation is required for this role.
Why This Role
The 2026 World Children’s Festival falls during America’s 250th anniversary celebration, placing this production in a genuinely historic public event context that few documentary or event videographers will have access to. The International Child Art Foundation has produced six prior editions of this festival and brings real organizational depth to a volunteer production environment. This is a strong credit for anyone building a documentary or live event production portfolio.
