Job Position(s): Compositor - Short Term contract August 2026
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Per Project
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Framestore is hiring a Compositor for a short-term contract based in Montreal, Canada, running approximately one to two months from August 2026. This role sits within the compositing department and involves integrating live-action footage, CG renders, and 2D elements into finished visual effects shots to feature film standard. It suits an experienced compositor who is comfortable working within a structured VFX pipeline on high-end projects and taking direction from senior leads without losing ownership of their own shots.

About the Role

This Compositor contract at Framestore places you inside a compositing team working directly with Compositing Supervisors and VFX Supervisors across assigned shots in a feature film post-production workflow. Day to day, you are pulling briefs, executing notes, managing your own queue, and communicating with production on schedules. The work demands both technical precision and a strong creative eye, particularly around colour and light integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the creative and technical approach to assigned shots in collaboration with the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor.
  • Composite 2D, 3D, and live-action elements to high-end feature film visual effects standards across your shot allocation.
  • Take briefs and action notes from Lead Compositors and VFX Supervisors, delivering revisions accurately and on time.
  • Manage your own workload and time independently, flagging schedule risks to Production and Leads proactively.
  • Apply solid knowledge of colour space principles throughout the compositing process to maintain consistency across the VFX pipeline.
  • Balance the creative and technical demands of each shot, meeting show deadlines without compromising quality.

What You Bring

  • Proven compositing credits on feature film or high-end episodic television productions.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry-standard compositing software used in professional VFX pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate CG renders with live-action plates at a level consistent with major studio deliverables.
  • Solid understanding of colour space theory and its practical application in a compositor role.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada is required. Candidates without Canadian work authorisation will not be considered.

Why This Role

Framestore is a multi Oscar-winning VFX and creative studio with credits spanning some of the most technically demanding feature film productions made in recent decades.
