Videographer

Pedros Chicken is hiring a Videographer based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This role sits within the content and creative studio function, responsible for end-to-end video production across four food and restaurant brands, from shoot planning and principal photography through to picture lock, colour grade, and platform delivery. It suits a camera operator and editor who has built their craft in food, retail, or lifestyle production and can own the full post-production workflow independently.

About the Role

Reporting to the Content Manager, the Videographer works alongside a Content Creator and in-house design team to produce campaign assets, social media video, digital advertising, and brand content for Pedros Chicken and its sister brands. A typical day moves between pre-production planning, food and product filming, and editorial work covering everything from rough cut to final export across vertical, square, and landscape formats. Expert colour grading is a core output of this position, not an afterthought.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate approved briefs into visual treatments, storyboards, and shot lists, planning equipment, locations, props, and shoot schedules ahead of each production.
• Operate camera with full control of lighting, exposure, white balance, composition, and movement to produce broadcast-quality food and brand footage.
• Record and monitor location sound using appropriate microphones, then complete dialogue clean-up, music mixing, and audio balancing in post-production.
• Edit compelling videos with strong narrative structure and pacing, applying captions and basic motion graphics to meet each platform’s format and duration requirements.
• Deliver expert colour correction and grading using scopes, colour management pipelines, and selective adjustments that maintain accurate food colours and natural skin tones across shots and cameras.
• Manage footage backup, project file organisation, version control, and clearances for music, contributor consent, and filming permissions.

What You Bring

• At least five years of professional videography and editing experience, with a showreel that demonstrates personal camera work, editing, and before-and-after colour grading examples.
• Strong editing proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent, with expert-level colour grading ability in DaVinci Resolve or equivalent.
• Hands-on camera, lighting, and production sound skills developed across commercial, food, restaurant, retail, or lifestyle video production.
• A relevant qualification in film, video production, or multimedia is advantageous, though demonstrated practical ability and portfolio quality are the primary measure.
• Own vehicle and a valid driving licence are required.

Why This Role

Pedros Chicken is one of South Africa’s growing quick-service restaurant groups, and this position gives a skilled videographer ownership of the full content production pipeline across multiple brands rather than a single channel. The work spans campaign production, social video, store activations, and brand storytelling, offering consistent variety within a structured creative team.
