Job Position(s): videographer
Project Type: Film & Television
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $25/hr

Aylex Academies is hiring a videographer for a part-time, on-location role based out of Vancouver, BC. This position sits on the production side, with the videographer responsible for capturing sports content across various outdoor locations in the Vancouver area. It suits a camera operator who works well independently in the field and can own the full capture workflow from setup to final shot.

About the Role

This is a solo operator role embedded in sports video production, where the videographer is responsible for the shoot from start to finish rather than working within a larger crew hierarchy. Day-to-day work involves traveling to different locations, setting up camera equipment on site, and making real-time technical decisions about composition, exposure, and movement. The part-time schedule runs daytime shifts at 20 hours per week, with the expectation of frequent travel between work sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine filming sequences and plan camera movements ahead of each sports production shoot.
  • Select appropriate camera equipment for outdoor field production and assemble lenses, filters, and film magazines on location.
  • Operate video recording equipment throughout the shoot, adjusting exposure, focus, and lighting settings as conditions change.
  • Make picture composition decisions in real time, framing sports action across varied outdoor environments.
  • Apply artificial intelligence tools as part of the production workflow where relevant to the shoot or output.
  • Manage attention to detail across all technical settings to ensure footage meets the production standard on every call.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience operating camera equipment in a field or outdoor video production context, though formal credentials are not required.
  • A background in sports video production or similar live-action, location-based camera work.
  • Comfort working as a sole operator managing equipment selection, setup, and capture without a dedicated camera assistant.
  • Reliability across variable schedules and locations, which is the core professional quality this role demands.
  • Valid work authorization in Canada, whether as a citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with a work permit.

Why This Role

Aylex Academies offers a permanent part-time engagement that starts as soon as possible, making it a stable ongoing role rather than a short-term contract. The position pays $25.00 per hour for 20 hours per week, with other benefits included. For a videographer building a sports production reel in the Vancouver market, the on-the-road format provides consistent variety across real locations.

Apply now for the videographer position at Aylex Academies and bring your camera work to sports production across Vancouver.
