Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

FOX Entertainment is hiring a Sports Producer for its television station operation in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a per diem role sitting inside the sports department, responsible for line-producing sportscasts, gathering original content from the field, and delivering live broadcast and streaming coverage across multiple platforms. It suits a working sports journalist who has already logged real hours in a commercial TV control room and wants a high-volume market to keep building their reel.

About the Role

The sports department at this FOX owned-and-operated station covers both local and national sports across broadcast television, digital, and live streaming, with roughly 1,200 hours of local content produced across the station group each week. On any given shift, this Sports Producer might line-produce an evening sportscast, cut highlights from a game, then turn around and host an unscripted live stream from a press conference venue. The role crosses the full broadcast television production workflow, from scripting and show rundown to field acquisition and digital publishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line-produce long-form sports programs and daily sportscasts, writing conversational copy and coordinating graphic elements to pace a live show.
  • Shoot game highlights, conduct athlete and coach interviews in the field, and edit finished packages to air on tight broadcast deadlines.
  • Host and present unscripted live streaming coverage from major sports venues using mobile journalism gear.
  • Develop enterprise sports stories using local and national contacts, breaking news and pitching original feature angles into the daily department planning meeting.
  • Write and optimize text copy for the station’s digital platforms and social media channels to extend sports content reach beyond the linear broadcast.
  • Travel on short-notice domestic or international assignments and feed material back to the station through file-based transmission systems.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of two years producing or reporting sports for a commercial television station or regional sports network is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven ability to independently shoot, edit, and transmit video from remote locations without a crew.
  • Strong on-camera delivery and the composure to handle live broadcast television reporting at major market press conferences.
  • FAA Part 107 drone certification is a meaningful plus for field content gathering.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean record and a current passport, or the ability to obtain one quickly for international assignments.

Why This Role

FOX Television Stations operates 29 full-power broadcast stations including properties in 14 of the top 15 markets in the country, giving a per diem Sports Producer genuine access to a national broadcast television infrastructure from an Atlanta base. Atlanta is a top-ten sports market with a professional and collegiate sports ecosystem that generates consistent high-profile content opportunities across episodic sports television and live event coverage. FOX Entertainment has the distribution footprint and the local production volume to make this a real credit on a serious broadcast journalism resume.
