About the Role

The Senior VFX Artist position feeds directly into a large-scale new project at Rebellion, working across the full VFX pipeline from early concepting through to optimised in-engine delivery. Day to day, this means authoring real-time simulations, maintaining console performance budgets, and collaborating closely with code, design, and environment art departments to keep effects integrated cleanly with gameplay systems. There is a defined path toward a Lead VFX Artist position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end asset creation for real-time visual effects, from prototype to final optimised implementation inside the Asura engine.
• Author particle simulations, screen post-processing filters, material-driven effects, physics-based mesh destruction, and custom UI animations across the project.
• Profile and maintain strict console performance budgets, managing overdraw limits and source-control hygiene throughout production.
• Translate high-level creative briefs and design documents into performant, in-engine visual effects that serve the shooter gameplay context.
• Contribute to internal shader reference libraries, effect presets, and documentation to support the wider VFX pipeline.
• Mentor junior and mid-level artists in colour theory, timing, composition, and technical execution across the department.

What You Bring

• Substantial professional experience in real-time VFX production, with a portfolio demonstrating timing, spatial clarity, and technical depth in the action or shooter genre.
• Advanced proficiency in Blender, Photoshop, Substance, and After Effects as core DCC tools.
• Hands-on experience with Houdini and Embergen for fluid dynamics, simulation work, and flipbook texture generation.
• Solid understanding of engine profiling utilities, shader complexity constraints, and real-time performance optimisation techniques.
• Familiarity with the visual language of kinetic action games, including weapon fire, hit feedback, and atmospheric environmental effects.
