Job Position(s): Senior Lighting & VFX Artist — Unreal
Project Type: Video Game
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Fenris Creations is hiring a Senior Lighting & VFX Artist — Unreal for their London studio. This role sits within the real-time content pipeline, responsible for crafting high-fidelity lighting setups and particle-based visual effects that define the look and feel of EVE: Vanguard. It is a strong fit for a senior-level artist who has shipped titles in Unreal Engine and knows how to carry visual quality from concept through to final in-engine delivery.

About the Role

The position lives inside the art department, working across lighting and real-time VFX disciplines on a live game production with the visual ambitions of a cinematic project. Day to day, you are building and iterating on light rigs, authoring Niagara effect systems, and feeding into a cross-disciplinary review process with environment, character, and technical art teams. The work demands someone who can hold a visual bar across varied scene types while staying inside real-time performance budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain lighting setups across interior and exterior environments using Unreal Engine 5 Lumen and static light baking workflows.
  • Author real-time visual effects in Niagara, covering combat, environmental, and atmospheric systems that serve both gameplay and cinematic readability.
  • Establish and document lighting and VFX standards that other artists on the team can work within consistently.
  • Review and provide notes on work from mid-level and junior artists, supporting quality across the VFX pipeline.
  • Work with technical art and engineering to profile and optimise effects without compromising the intended visual output.
  • Contribute to shot-level cinematic sequences, applying lighting and VFX craft to in-engine cutscenes and real-time cinematics.

What You Bring

  • Senior-level production credits in game development or real-time content, with shipped titles as evidence of craft.
  • Hands-on proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, specifically Lumen, Nanite, and the Niagara VFX system.
  • A working understanding of physically based rendering principles and how they apply to real-time lighting.
  • Experience collaborating across art, technical art, and production disciplines within a structured game development pipeline.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates both lighting and VFX work at a quality level appropriate to a high-profile live game title.

Why This Role

Fenris Creations is working on EVE: Vanguard, a title with a serious visual target and an established IP behind it, which means the work carries weight and visibility. The studio operates with flexible hours and a family-friendly structure, and offers a fitness allowance as part of its benefits package. For a Senior Lighting & VFX Artist looking to do meaningful real-time production work in London, this is a role with genuine craft value.
