Motion Graphics Designer -2D Animation Specialisation (DNEG Animation)
- Full Time
- London, United Kingdom
DNEG
DNEG is hiring a Motion Graphics Designer with a 2D Animation specialisation, based at their London studio. This role sits within DNEG’s dedicated Motion Graphics department, producing design and animation work across VFX film, episodic television, and feature animation productions. It suits an experienced motion designer who is equally comfortable interpreting a director’s creative brief and delivering polished assets into a high-end post-production pipeline.
About the Role
The Motion Graphics team at DNEG operates as a specialised unit serving the studio’s VFX and animation divisions globally, meaning the work spans a wide range of production types and visual styles in any given month. As a Motion Graphics Designer with a 2D Animation specialisation, you will move between projects at different stages of post production, designing and animating graphics that feed directly into the VFX pipeline alongside compositing and editorial teams. Days typically involve translating client briefs into motion design solutions, iterating on typography and layout, and delivering final assets that meet both the creative vision and the technical requirements of each show.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and animate 2D motion graphics assets for feature film, television, and feature animation productions using After Effects and Illustrator.
- Develop graphic concepts that align with the visual language and tone established by VFX supervisors and creative directors on each project.
- Collaborate directly with VFX compositing teams to ensure motion graphics assets integrate correctly within the post-production workflow.
- Adapt design approach across production types, applying appropriate typography, colour, composition, and form to suit each brief.
- Manage deliverables across multiple concurrent projects, meeting studio deadlines and adhering to DNEG’s internal design and pipeline standards.
- Contribute to motion graphics solutions that incorporate tools including Cinema 4D and Photoshop alongside core After Effects work.
What You Bring
- A showreel demonstrating advanced 2D and 3D motion graphics design and animation across multiple production contexts.
- Proficiency in After Effects, Cinema 4D, Photoshop, and Illustrator, with a strong foundation in typography and photographic composition.
- Experience working within high-end post-production pipelines and familiarity with MGFX project workflows.
- Knowledge of Nuke, Houdini, Maya, or ZBrush is a genuine advantage for this role.
- A portfolio of supporting artwork across illustration, branding, or print disciplines strengthens an application.
Why This Role
DNEG is one of the most active VFX and animation studios in the world, with a production slate that consistently spans major studio film and television projects, giving this role genuine variety and visibility. The Motion Graphics department is a tight, specialised team, which means your work has direct impact and the scope to shape how motion design is applied across the studio’s output. For a Motion Graphics Designer looking to work at the intersection of design craft and feature film production, the breadth of DNEG’s pipeline is difficult to match in London.
Apply now for the Motion Graphics Designer, 2D Animation Specialisation position at DNEG and bring your motion design experience to one of London’s leading VFX studios.
