Supaglu is recruiting a Lead Compositor to join a boutique Sydney VFX studio, with the position open to candidates based in Adelaide, SA. This role sits at the heart of the compositing department, where you will own the delivery of final comp work across film, television, and commercial productions. About the Role

Working within a tight-knit VFX pipeline, the Lead Compositor oversees compositing output from turnover through to final delivery, acting as the primary quality control point for the department. Productions span feature film, episodic television, and high-end commercials, meaning the work shifts between formats and client expectations regularly. Day to day, you are reviewing artist work, handling complex comp challenges yourself, and keeping the department on schedule without letting quality slip.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the compositing team across concurrent projects, assigning shots and managing individual artist workloads against production deadlines.
• Perform high-complexity compositing work in Nuke, including integration of CGI elements, matte painting, green screen keying, and plate cleanup.
• Liaise with VFX supervisors and producers to communicate compositing progress, flag technical issues, and contribute to shot bidding and scheduling.
• Establish and maintain comp templates, look development guidelines, and pipeline conventions that keep the team working consistently.
• Review and provide detailed technical feedback on artist outputs before shots proceed to client review.
• Contribute to post-production workflow improvements, including tool development and pipeline integration with 3D and motion graphics departments.

What You Bring

• Minimum five years of compositing experience in a professional VFX studio environment, with at least two years in a lead or senior capacity.
• Advanced proficiency in Nuke, with a working knowledge of Python scripting for pipeline tasks considered a strong advantage.
• Credits across feature film or episodic television productions, demonstrating experience with high-resolution deliverables and client-facing review processes.
• Solid understanding of colour science, camera formats, and delivery specifications across broadcast and cinema pipelines.
• Experience working within a structured VFX pipeline alongside CG, FX, and lighting departments.
