About the Role

The Witch Tour Guide performs Enthral Experiences’ Witches Old Town Walking Tour, a scripted theatrical walking show covering Scottish witch history, Old Town lore, and ghost stories. Tours run at 11am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm daily, with guides allocated a minimum of one tour day per week on a part-time freelance basis. Each session is a solo performance to a live public audience outdoors, requiring full command of the script, crowd, and environment across all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform the fully scripted Witch Tour Guide show to live audiences in Edinburgh’s Old Town, maintaining character consistency across all sessions.
• Deliver clear, projected vocal performance to groups of varying sizes, using a radio mic when required by conditions.
• Manage audience engagement and crowd movement solo throughout the duration of each walking tour.
• Embody a specific scripted character, a quirky and warm witch figure, across repeated performances without losing energy or authenticity.
• Maintain performance quality through outdoor conditions including variable Scottish weather and unpredictable public environments.
• Complete a rehearsal and script learning process over a 3 to 4 week preparation period prior to going live with audiences.

What You Bring

• Minimum two years of professional acting experience across stage, live performance, or outdoor theatre production.
• Strong solo performance skills with proven ability to hold a live audience without a supporting cast.
• A Scottish accent is preferred, though applicants with other accents will be considered.
• Genuine interest in Scottish history and the ability to deliver historical material in an engaging, accessible way.
• Full daytime availability is a firm requirement for scheduling across the weekly tour programme.
• Must be based in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh, and available to work in person from day one of rehearsals.
