2D Animator/VFX Artist

Elkab Studios AB is hiring a 2D Animator/VFX Artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. About the Role

ELK Studios operates across a portfolio of original iGaming IPs with short project cycles, meaning animators move between distinct art styles and themes with regularity. The role sits at the intersection of the animation pipeline and VFX production, with daily work covering everything from particle effects to full character rigs, all feeding into a real-time game environment. You will partner directly with the Art Director to maintain visual consistency across each title while owning your assets from brief through to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Create 2D animations and VFX for symbols, characters, and objects across a range of iGaming titles with varied art styles.
• Build and refine motion graphics and particle effects using After Effects as the primary animation tool in the VFX pipeline.
• Work with programmers and fellow artists to integrate animated assets into the game engine within defined technical specifications.
• Coordinate with the Art Director to ensure each animation package reflects the specific visual language and theme of its title.
• Review feedback from across disciplines, self-direct revisions, and deliver polished assets on production deadlines without requiring close supervision.
• Identify and develop animation solutions that maximize visual impact within the performance limits of a mobile-first game pipeline.

What You Bring

• At least 3 years of professional experience creating 2D animations and VFX, with a focus on mobile gaming or a comparable interactive medium.
• Strong working knowledge of After Effects, with Photoshop and Spine listed as a merit.
• A portfolio or showreel that demonstrates VFX work with clear command of timing, weight, and visual hierarchy.
• The ability to adapt animation style across different visual themes, from stylized to detailed illustrative work.
• Professional fluency in English for daily collaboration. Swedish is a plus but not a requirement.
