Job Position(s): Disney Live Entertainment Art Studio Intern, Spring 2027
Project Type: Film & Television
Job Date: Internship
Compensation: Paid Internship

Walt Disney Imagineering is hiring a Disney Live Entertainment Art Studio Intern, Spring 2027, based in Kissimmee, Florida. This role sits inside the Disney Live Entertainment Art Studio, a visual development department producing concept art, scenic designs, color elevations, logos, and 3D models for theme park productions including parades, stage shows, and large-scale spectaculars. It suits an emerging visual storyteller with a foundation in themed entertainment design, illustration, or production design who is ready to work inside a real creative pipeline on projects that ship to audiences.

About the Role

The DLE Art Studio functions as the visual development engine behind Disney Parks live entertainment, creating artwork that drives productions from initial concept through final execution across Disney Parks, resort hotels, and Disney Cruise Line. The internship runs from January 2027 to June 2027, placing you inside a team of art directors, concept artists, scenic designers, and 3D modelers working across simultaneous live entertainment projects. A typical day involves generating design deliverables at various stages of production, from blue sky sketching through finished color illustrations, while participating in production reviews and design research alongside senior creatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce character sketches, storyboards, color illustrations, and digital paintings at the quality level required for themed entertainment production review.
  • Develop graphic design and scenic design assets including logos, color elevations, and renderings that communicate design intent to directors and technical teams.
  • Build 3D models as part of the visual development workflow, supporting scenic and production design needs across active projects.
  • Carry at least one project from blue sky concept through completion, maintaining design consistency across all associated technical and creative materials.
  • Manage workload across multiple live entertainment projects simultaneously, meeting department deadlines within an active production schedule.
  • Attend Disney Live Entertainment seminars and production meetings, contributing to design research that informs current and upcoming projects.

What You Bring

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in illustration, production design, graphic design, themed entertainment, or a related visual discipline.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in digital painting, graphic design, and illustration across both traditional and digital formats.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling tools relevant to scenic or themed entertainment design pipelines.
  • A portfolio showing range across concept art, storyboards, and design work, ideally with exposure to theatre, themed entertainment, or live production contexts.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once without a drop in output quality or attention to Disney design standards.

Why This Role

Walt Disney Imagineering sits at the center of one of the most extensive live entertainment production operations in the world, with work reaching theme parks, cruise ships, and resort venues across multiple continents. This internship puts you inside the concept art and scenic design workflow for productions that actually get built and performed in front of live audiences, not hypothetical projects. For anyone building a career in themed entertainment design or live production design, the studio context and the scale of the project slate here are genuinely hard to match.
