Job Position(s): Content Creator and Video Editor
Project Type: Short Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $22 - $27/hr

Honeyplate, a founder-led food brand based in West Haven, Connecticut, is hiring a Content Creator and Video Editor to own the full production pipeline for their social media presence across two channels. This role sits squarely in short-form video production and post-production workflow, with primary output being Reels, TikToks, and Shorts alongside longer YouTube-format cuts. It suits an editor who is comfortable working independently from acquisition through delivery, without a larger crew to hand off to.

About the Role

This is a one-person content production role covering both field capture and offline editing, with up to 20 hours per week split between on-site shoot days in southern Connecticut and remote post work. The editor manages their own footage library and content calendar while taking creative direction from the founder, who holds final approval on voice and tone. A typical week involves receiving or shooting raw footage, cutting for multiple platforms, and scheduling native posts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit short-form video content from raw footage to finished deliverable, cutting for pacing, platform format, and audience retention across TikTok, Reels, and Shorts.
  • Edit longer YouTube-style videos from extended recordings, structuring narrative and maintaining viewer engagement across a longer runtime.
  • Film on location using both a camera and a phone, adapting to shoot conditions with or without a dedicated crew present.
  • Publish and schedule content natively across all five platforms, adjusting caption style, aspect ratio, and tone to suit each channel’s audience.
  • Track trending audio and short-form formats, then pitch platform-specific ideas that fit a food brand’s content identity.
  • Maintain an organized footage archive and production calendar so content moves through post without delays.

What You Bring

  • A portfolio demonstrating both short-form and longer-form video editing, with short-form work weighted most heavily in the review.
  • Hands-on editing experience in CapCut, Final Cut Pro, or comparable non-linear editing software.
  • Practical knowledge of what performs on TikTok versus LinkedIn versus YouTube, applied at the edit and caption level.
  • Comfort filming independently on-site with a camera and phone, with some days requiring your physical presence in Connecticut.
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Metricool or clip-generation tools such as Opus Clip is a plus, as is prior work in food or hospitality content.

Why This Role

Honeyplate is an established business with a clear brand voice and a founder who is actively involved in content direction, which means decisions move quickly and your work gets seen. This is a part-time engagement structured to give an editor real creative ownership over a food brand’s entire social video output, not just execution of someone else’s plan. Finalists will complete a short paid trial edit before any commitment is made.
