About the Role

You will be embedded in the game production team at Praxis Tech, working across the full VFX pipeline from concept through to optimised asset delivery for HTML5 slot games. A typical day involves building 2D effect sequences in After Effects and rigging animation in Spine, then stress-testing assets across device types to make sure frame rate and file weight hold up in a browser environment. There is also a research and development component, meaning you are expected to track where VFX trends in gaming are heading and bring new techniques into the studio’s workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and produce 2D visual effects that integrate with game mechanics, UI states, and win sequences across HTML5 slot game productions.
• Build and maintain Spine rigs for character and symbol animation, ensuring clean export pipelines compatible with the front-end development environment.
• Optimise texture atlases, sprite sheets, and particle systems in Photoshop to meet performance targets across mobile and desktop platforms.
• Work within the VFX pipeline to deliver assets at each production milestone, coordinating handoffs with game designers and front-end developers.
• Conduct R&D into emerging 2D animation and real-time VFX techniques, presenting findings that can be adopted into the studio’s production process.
• Maintain quality and consistency across a slate of slot game titles, applying feedback from art direction and QA throughout the production cycle.

What You Bring

• A portfolio demonstrating 2D VFX work produced for games, interactive media, or a comparable animation studio environment.
• Hands-on production experience with After Effects, Spine, and Photoshop as core tools in a shipped project pipeline.
• Working knowledge of HTML5 game asset requirements, including sprite optimisation and performance budgeting for browser-based delivery.
• Familiarity with real-time UI animation and how VFX integrates with interactive game states rather than linear playback.
• Comfort working across multiple concurrent productions and adapting to evolving art direction mid-project.
