ILM Vancouver is accepting expressions of interest for a CG Supervisor to join their VFX pipeline team in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This role sits at the intersection of technical oversight and creative problem-solving, responsible for managing the full CG pipeline across active productions, from asset management and render resource forecasting to workflow optimization and show wrap. About the Role

The CG Supervisor at ILM works across the full production lifecycle, coordinating with VFX Supervisors, Producers, and Department Leads to align technical execution with creative and budgetary requirements. Day-to-day, this means triaging pipeline support tickets, managing render and storage forecasting, supporting bids with technical breakdowns, and mentoring department crew. This is a hybrid position, with two to three days onsite at the Vancouver studio each week.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive cross-pipeline efficiency by developing optimized VFX pipeline methodologies in collaboration with department Supervisors and Leads.
• Manage render and storage resource forecasting throughout the show lifecycle, working with Digital Resource Managers to prevent production bottlenecks.
• Oversee pipeline ticket queues, conduct initial technical investigations, and coordinate with department supervisors to prioritize critical issues.
• Partner with VFX Supervisors and Producers on bidding and scope, providing technical alternatives or rebidding strategies when creative demands shift.
• Manage show start-up and wrap-up processes, including CG Library oversight and End-of-Show Tool Audits with Pipeline TDs.
• Mentor junior and mid-level crew, maintaining an environment where technical knowledge is shared openly and team accountability is the standard.

What You Bring

• Eight or more years of professional VFX experience with a relevant degree, or ten or more years of experience without a formal degree.
• Deep knowledge of both proprietary and third-party VFX pipeline tools and post-production workflow across major productions.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux, with Python and shell scripting skills considered a significant asset.
• Proven ability to manage time, prioritize competing demands, and deliver accurate technical estimates under shifting production schedules.
• A track record of leading crews on feature film production, episodic television, or comparable large-scale VFX projects.
