Job Position(s): Assistant Editor- Ink
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Netflix is hiring an Assistant Editor for Ink, based in Los Angeles, California. This role sits within the editorial department of Netflix’s Inkubator division, supporting the creation of animated content through GenAI-native post-production workflows alongside traditional editorial tools. It suits a post-production professional with an animation background who is comfortable working in a pipeline that is still being built.

About the Role

The Assistant Editor works directly with the Lead Editor and Associate Producer on an experimental animation production that integrates generative AI-generated content into a standard editorial structure. Day-to-day work covers the full range of assistant editorial duties, from ingesting footage and managing turnovers to organizing unconventional AI-generated assets and maintaining compliance with strict data security protocols. This is a hands-on post-production workflow role where the processes themselves are evolving, and your input in shaping them is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ingest all footage deliveries, flag missing elements or discrepancies to the production team, and maintain organized bins across an animation pipeline that includes both traditional and AI-generated media.
  • Transcode and prepare media for editorial turnovers, publishing outputs to creative stakeholders, studio executives, and relevant studio functions per established conventions.
  • Track cut versions, approvals, and editorial outputs, following technical and security specifications with a high degree of accuracy throughout the post-production workflow.
  • Manage prompt-based versioning, experimental AI generations, and non-traditional media types alongside standard editorial footage, keeping all assets organized and accessible.
  • Monitor editorial tools for technical issues and communicate directly with TDs to resolve problems before they affect the animation production schedule.
  • Ensure all handling and documentation of proprietary generative AI training data meets Netflix’s internal data security requirements.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of 3 years on a feature film or episodic editorial team, with animation studio experience strongly preferred.
  • At least 2 years working in Avid Media Composer or DaVinci Resolve as primary editorial software.
  • Solid understanding of video and audio file formats, metadata, compression, and hardware and software for format conversion.
  • Experience with project organization and archival workflows at a professional production level.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Flix, Media Encoder, After Effects, or AI tools such as Cursor is a genuine advantage.
  • This position may be covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Why This Role

Netflix’s Inkubator is one of the few places in the industry actively building a GenAI-native animation pipeline from the ground up, which means an Assistant Editor here will gain direct experience shaping post-production workflows that don’t exist anywhere else yet. The position offers real proximity to both the editorial and technical decisions that will define this production format going forward. Per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, pay is no less than $55.27 per hour, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, mental health support, retirement programs, and paid leave.

Apply now for the Assistant Editor position at Netflix and bring your animation post-production background to a production that is building something genuinely new.
