Job Position(s): Video Editor / Videographer (In-House)
Project Type: Short Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000/year

Kanister Films is hiring a full-time Video Editor / Videographer based on-site in Brisbane, Queensland. This is an in-house post-production and production role sitting within a marketing agency where video output spans short-form social content and polished corporate brand work. It suits an editor-first operator who can also pick up a camera and shoot independently, without needing to run large-scale productions.

About the Role

The role sits across two distinct workflows: autonomous short-form social content for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and editorial support on larger corporate and brand video projects led by the Head of Production. Day-to-day, you are shooting and cutting social content from brief to publish, managing your own post-production workflow and deadlines with direction from the social account manager on content plans. On bigger jobs, you are in the edit suite or supporting on set, not leading the shoot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shoot and edit short-form social video content autonomously, taking briefs through to final delivery across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Edit corporate, brand, and campaign videos to a client-ready standard using DaVinci Resolve as the primary post-production tool.
  • Manage your own production workflow end-to-end, including gear prep, scheduling, and meeting delivery deadlines without close supervision.
  • Assist the Head of Production on larger shoots, handling camera, lighting, and audio support as directed on set.
  • Apply platform-specific editorial sensibility to ensure cut style, pacing, and format match the distribution channel.
  • Adapt to established in-house production workflow and take on skills development guided by the Head of Production.

What You Bring

  • A strong showreel demonstrating editorial range across social content and longer-form brand or corporate video work.
  • Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve is preferred, though experienced editors coming from Premiere Pro or comparable software will be considered.
  • Solid videography fundamentals across camera operation, lighting, and location audio sufficient to shoot social content without a crew.
  • Demonstrated fluency with short-form social video formats and an understanding of what performs on each platform.
  • Based in Brisbane or able to commit to full-time on-site work.
  • Photography skills are a genuine bonus and will be viewed favourably in the application.

Why This Role

Kanister Films started in 2021 and has grown into a full-service agency with video production at the centre of its output, which means this is not a role where editing gets treated as an afterthought. The Head of Production provides hands-on mentorship, making it a real opportunity for a capable editor to develop across both social and corporate video production. This position pays $65,000 to $75,000 plus superannuation.
