Finance Director – Mikros Animation

About the Role

The Finance Director reports to the Rodeo FX Group CFO and works directly alongside the President of Mikros Animation, functioning as the primary financial voice in studio leadership conversations. Day-to-day, this person is embedded in the commercial and production workflow, supporting bid development for new projects, tracking margins on active productions, and presenting monthly results to management. The role sits inside a growing animation studio with an international production slate, where financial visibility directly shapes which projects get greenlit and how resources are allocated.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the Studio President and senior management team to provide financial analysis that supports production decisions, bid submissions, and studio growth priorities.
• Lead the financial evaluation of client proposals for animation productions, stress-testing budgetary assumptions, margin targets, and project-level risks before commitments are made.
• Oversee monthly financial reporting for Mikros Animation, presenting variances, trends, and corrective actions to the CFO and leadership team.
• Manage budget planning and rolling forecasts across the studio, including short- and long-term liquidity planning tied to the production pipeline.
• Ensure accounting operations, internal controls, and compliance obligations meet legal, tax, and regulatory requirements in the animation studio context.
• Collaborate with Rodeo FX Group finance teams to align reporting standards, systems, and processes across entities while continuously improving local financial workflows.

What You Bring

• 10 or more years of progressive finance experience, with meaningful time spent in a project-based industry such as animation, VFX production, film, or episodic television.
• Demonstrated experience as a finance business partner to operational and commercial teams, not just a reporting function.
• Hands-on background in production budgeting, project profitability tracking, and bid support within a creative studio environment.
• CPA designation or equivalent credential is expected at this level.
• Fluency in both French and English is an asset given the studio’s international production work and Montreal base.
