Job Type
Sony Pictures Entertainment is hiring a Director, Film Credits based at their Culver City, California studio. This role sits within the credits department and is responsible for the full lifecycle of main and end title administration across Sony’s feature film production slate, from contract analysis through final mastering deliverables. It’s the kind of position built for a seasoned credits professional who knows guild manuals the way a script supervisor knows continuity reports.
About the Role
The Director, Film Credits works across Sony Pictures Entertainment’s feature film production and post-production pipeline, coordinating with Legal Affairs, Business Affairs, Post Production, and external producers to ensure every title card on every project is contractually and guild-compliant. Day-to-day work spans WGA tentative writing credit notices, DGA and SAG waiver requests, check-K documentation, and title rounds that go through multiple approvals before lock. This person also supervises Credits Coordinators and leads the department’s Academy Award and RAISE submission process.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret production contracts to extract screen credit obligations, flagging provisions that conflict with guild standards or established studio precedent.
- Build and administer main and end title layouts for feature film production, ensuring strict compliance with WGA, DGA, SAG-AFTRA, Editors Guild, and DGC credit manuals.
- File preliminary guild documents including WGA Notices of Tentative Writing Credits, manage script submissions, and liaise directly with guilds during arbitrations and protests.
- Create and maintain comprehensive check-K documents that track inconsistencies across all contractual and extracontractual credit items throughout a project’s post-production workflow.
- Lead Academy Award and RAISE submissions internally, coordinating approvals from senior executives before routing to producers, and serving as the studio’s point of contact for Academy queries.
- Review one-sheets, start-of-production press releases, and press kit notes, and collaborate with Marketing Contract Compliance on Marketing and Advertising Summaries.
What You Bring
- 7 or more years of direct experience administering screen credits, with at least 5 years leading the credits process on feature film production.
- Working familiarity with WGA, DGA, SAG-AFTRA, Editors Guild, and DGC credit manuals, including domestic and international guild obligations.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain guild waivers and navigate credit arbitration procedures across multiple union jurisdictions.
- Strong information management skills built for tight, fluid post-production timelines with multiple concurrent projects at different stages.
- Experience preparing paid advertising credit items is a plus.
Why This Role
Sony Pictures Entertainment operates one of the largest and most active feature film production slates among the major studios, which means the credits work here is genuinely complex and consequential, not administrative busywork. This Director, Film Credits position carries real departmental authority, including oversight of support staff and direct communication with senior executives on awards submissions and policy decisions. For a credits professional who wants scope, this is a legitimate step up.
Apply now for the Director, Film Credits role at Sony Pictures Entertainment and bring your guild expertise to one of Hollywood’s most established studios.
