Amazon MGM Studios is hiring a Head of Korean Original Series to be based in Seoul and lead scripted development for Prime Video’s Korean originals slate. This role sits within the International Originals team and is responsible for sourcing, developing, and overseeing Korean co-productions from pitch through to series production. It’s a fit for a senior creative executive who already has deep roots in the Korean television industry and knows the development landscape from the inside.

About the Role

The International Originals team at Amazon MGM Studios partners with local talent across multiple territories to develop premium scripted content for a global streaming audience. In Seoul, that means working directly with Korean writers, directors, and producers across all stages of scripted television development, from evaluating early pitches to providing notes on cuts once a series is in production. The day-to-day is split between creative development work and cross-departmental coordination with Marketing, Press, Research, and Business and Legal Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and source Korean scripted series opportunities by maintaining active relationships across the local creative community, including writers, showrunners, directors, and producers.
• Evaluate pilot proposals, treatment documents, and full scripts with an eye toward stories that translate for both Korean audiences and global Prime Video subscribers.
• Provide detailed creative notes on outlines, drafts, and cuts throughout the episodic television development process.
• Support production oversight on series that have been greenlit, working alongside producing partners to keep creative vision on track.
• Coordinate with internal departments to align on marketing strategy, press positioning, and clearances as projects move through the pipeline.
• Track emerging talent and shifts in the Korean television landscape to inform the broader International Originals development strategy.

What You Bring

• Extensive experience as a creative development or production executive in Korean television or film, with a track record of series credits.
• Established relationships with top-tier Korean talent across writing, directing, and producing.
• Demonstrated ability to give substantive creative feedback on scripts and cuts across multiple genres of scripted content.
• Fluency in the Korean television market, including an understanding of co-production structures and how Korean content travels internationally.
• Experience managing multiple projects in active development simultaneously without losing creative detail on any single one.
