Sony Pictures Entertainment is hiring an Executive Director Design, TV Creative Marketing based in Culver City, California. This role leads all design output for Sony Pictures Television Studios, covering everything from series key art and franchise decks to sales materials, event branding, and executive presentations across the studio’s episodic television slate. It suits a senior designer who has moved into creative leadership but still wants to be hands-on with high-profile projects rather than purely managing from a distance.
About the Role
Sitting within the Creative Marketing department and reporting to the SVP, Creative Marketing, this position sets the visual direction for how the studio presents itself internally and externally across its television creative marketing work. Day-to-day output spans pitch materials for series in development, franchise storytelling assets, social creative systems, and studio-level communications, often running across static, motion, and video formats simultaneously. The Executive Director Design, TV Creative Marketing partners closely with Social Creative, Marketing Strategy, Franchise Management, and Sales Marketing to make sure visual identities hold up across every application.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the visual standards of Sony Pictures Television Studios across all creative marketing touchpoints, from key visuals to presentation design.
- Personally execute high-profile design projects, including franchise decks, sales materials, and event branding, from concept through final delivery.
- Provide clear creative direction and structured feedback that pushes episodic television marketing work beyond the first expected solution.
- Lead and develop the in-house Design team, conducting regular creative reviews and building a culture where designers grow both their craft and strategic thinking.
- Apply design principles consistently across trailers, social content, and emerging content formats to ensure coherence across the full television creative marketing pipeline.
- Partner with Operations leadership to manage workflow prioritization, resource allocation, and freelance or agency relationships as project volume demands.
What You Bring
- 10 or more years of design experience, with a significant portion in television creative marketing, entertainment branding, or a related studio environment.
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates typography, composition, key art, and presentation design at a senior level across both static and motion formats.
- Hands-on proficiency across industry-standard design platforms, with working knowledge of motion design tools and emerging AI applications relevant to creative production.
- Proven experience leading a design team and directing freelancers or agency partners on high-visibility projects.
- A track record of translating creative strategy into visual systems that work across social, video, franchise storytelling, and executive communications.
