Framestore is hiring a Senior FX TD to join its London, United Kingdom studio on a major episodic production. About the Role

The Senior FX TD position is part of an established team working within a larger VFX pipeline that feeds directly into an upcoming episodic television production. Day-to-day work moves between simulation, lookdev in collaboration with Lighting TDs, and producing reviewable composites that let supervisors sign off shots efficiently. You will be expected to take ownership of your work from brief through to final render where the shot requires it.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and deliver physically believable simulations covering particles, rigid body destruction, fluid dynamics, cloth, fur, and hair using Houdini and Maya within an episodic VFX pipeline.
• Apply lighting and shaders to FX elements in close coordination with Lighting Technical Directors to ensure effects hold up under final shot conditions.
• Design and implement procedural approaches to effects problems, building tools and techniques that serve both the current production and the wider team.
• Produce reviewable composites of all FX elements for assigned shots, and deliver final renders on shots where the brief requires full TD ownership.
• Cross-departmental coordination is central to this role, requiring regular communication with other post-production departments to ensure effects integrate correctly into the broader shot context.
• Participate in team strategy discussions, contributing to creative problem-solving at a senior level and helping to define how complex effects sequences are approached.

What You Bring

• Demonstrable senior-level credits in FX simulation work on episodic television or feature film production.
• Strong proficiency in Houdini, with working knowledge of Maya as part of a shared VFX pipeline.
• Experience applying shaders and lighting passes to FX elements in collaboration with a lighting department.
• Ability to build procedural tools and contribute to pipeline development, not just consume existing workflows.
• Comfortable producing final-quality composites and renders independently when required by production.
