Animation Supervisor

Scanline VFX (Eyeline) is hiring an Animation Supervisor for its studio in Hyderabad. This role sits at the head of the animation department, driving the delivery of character, creature, and object animation for photo-realistic feature film VFX production. About the Role

The Animation Supervisor works directly with studio leadership and cross-department supervisors to maintain quality and throughput across the animation pipeline. Day-to-day, that means hands-on shot work when needed, artist reviews, problem-solving across both technical and creative fronts, and keeping production deadlines on track. The projects are feature film and episodic television at the high end of the VFX industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the animation department, partnering with studio leadership to set and maintain the quality bar across all character, creature, and object animation.
• Work directly with animators and cross-department supervisors to identify and resolve technical and artistic problems before they affect shot delivery.
• Get hands-on with shot work as production demands, contributing directly to the animation pipeline rather than supervising from a distance.
• Liaise with production team members to track schedules, flag risks, and ensure animation milestones are met across the project timeline.
• Take an active role in hiring, coaching, and developing animators at various levels within the team.
• Apply a strong working knowledge of camera language, including framing, lenses, blocking, and continuity, to guide staging and shot composition decisions.

What You Bring

• Significant production experience in VFX leadership on high-end live-action feature films and episodic television, with credits to support it.
• Expert-level proficiency in Maya and Nuke, with 3ds Max, Photoshop, and ZBrush considered a plus.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor large animation teams, including hiring, training, and performance development.
• A grounded understanding of animation principles including acting, weight, timing, posing, and staying on model, preferably with an action-oriented background.
• Experience with previs and solid camera animation work, whether through shot layout, film camera use, or on-set experience.
• Background in fine arts, life drawing, or formal study of human and animal anatomy is desirable.
