About the Role

WTVD operates in the 22nd largest television market in the US, and this internship places you inside the News and Technology teams that keep daily broadcast and digital news delivery running. From January 2027 through June 2027, you will rotate through newsroom production, digital publishing, and engineering support functions, getting hands-on time with the systems and workflows that professional broadcast operations depend on. Expect to work across breaking news coverage, live events, and standard daily newscasts.

Key Responsibilities

• Support content gathering, video research, and media retrieval to prep assets for broadcast and digital news platforms.
• Operate newsroom content management systems to assist with newsgathering, story publishing, and production workflow operations.
• Manage the organization and distribution of media assets for on-air, digital, and archival use across the station’s library.
• Work alongside engineering and newsroom technology teams during live broadcasts, breaking news situations, and special coverage projects.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, system documentation, and technical troubleshooting that supports multiple station departments.
• Participate in engineering initiatives that maintain the broadcast infrastructure behind daily television news production.

What You Bring

• Current enrollment as a junior or senior at an accredited college or university, majoring in journalism, communications, media production, or a related field.
• Basic familiarity with video editing software, cameras, or production equipment is helpful, with Adobe product experience preferred.
• Previous internship, volunteer, or project work in television, broadcast, or media technology environments is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills developed through coursework or prior newsroom or production experience.
• Unrestricted US work authorization and availability for 18 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
