Job Position(s): Wardrobe Assistant
Project Type: Film & Television
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $14 - $17/hr

Old Tucson Entertainment LLC is hiring a Wardrobe Assistant at their historic live entertainment and film production facility in Tucson, AZ. This role sits within the wardrobe department and covers the full costume lifecycle, from load-in and inventory through fittings, alterations, and show-ready prep across live performances and film productions. It suits a working seamstress, tailor, or costume technician who is comfortable moving between a shop environment and an active set or venue floor.

About the Role

The Wardrobe Assistant reports directly to the Wardrobe Supervisor and supports daily operations across events, shows, and on-site film production at Old Tucson Entertainment. The costume inventory skews heavily toward Old West period production, so familiarity with Western wardrobe construction and repair is a genuine advantage here. A typical day moves between the costume shop and dressing rooms, with hands-on work covering laundry, steaming, repairs, and performer fittings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all garment care duties including laundering, steaming, and pressing costumes to show-ready condition before performances and production days.
  • Execute hand stitching and machine sewing repairs, including costume assembly and alteration work for fitted pieces across the production wardrobe.
  • Conduct performer fittings and complete on-the-spot alterations to ensure costumes meet continuity and character requirements.
  • Manage costume inventory during load-in, track pieces throughout the run, and maintain organized storage across the wardrobe department.
  • Support props handling when wardrobe and props responsibilities overlap during live entertainment events and film production days.
  • Uphold safety and workplace standards on set and in the shop, working alongside performers, production staff, and other departments.

What You Bring

  • Previous credited work as a wardrobe assistant, seamstress, or tailor in live entertainment, theater, or film and television production.
  • Proficiency in both hand stitching and machine sewing, with solid general costume and clothing repair skills.
  • Knowledge of period costume construction, particularly Old West era wardrobe, is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing large costume inventories across multiple productions or events.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly and work extended standing shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Why This Role

Old Tucson Entertainment operates one of the most recognized Western production locations in the country, with a history spanning live shows and on-location film production. This is a seasonal hourly position with a compensation range of $14.70 to $17.00 per hour, offering hands-on wardrobe department experience across both live entertainment and film production contexts. For a costume technician looking to build credits in period wardrobe, this is a working role with real output.
