This role sits inside the development and programming side of Walt Disney Television, supporting the team that oversees ABC and Hulu’s unscripted slate from pitch intake through on-air delivery. It suits a TV-obsessed student or recent grad who wants real exposure to how unscripted series get developed, greenlit, and produced at a major broadcast and streaming network.

About the Role

The Walt Disney Television Unscripted & Alternative Entertainment team manages a slate that includes The Bachelor franchise, Shark Tank, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, The Kardashians, and awards programming like The Oscars and The CMA Awards. This intern reports directly to the Manager of Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment and works across the full content lifecycle, from reviewing incoming pitch material to screening cuts of shows in production. Running January 2027 through June 2027, this is a full-time internship with hands-on exposure to episodic television development and live event production at the network level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and sort pitch submissions coming into the department, cataloging format types and identifying trends in unscripted television development.
  • Screen rough cuts of series currently in production before they air on ABC or Hulu, providing written or verbal notes to the team.
  • Research topics and update internal reports using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Airtable to support development tracking.
  • Support creative projects including IP tracking and building casting decks for potential unscripted formats.
  • Cover phones and manage scheduling for department leadership, including coordinating meetings across cross-functional teams in post, production management, marketing, PR, legal, and business affairs.

What You Bring

  • Senior-year standing preferred, with prior internship experience in unscripted content or a related production environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Airtable, and Adobe Suite on Mac systems.
  • Experience covering phones and desks for executives or senior leadership in a production or studio office setting.
  • Working knowledge of current programming across ABC, Hulu, and competing networks and streamers.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks across a constantly shifting production calendar.
