Project Manager, Abusive Actor Operations
- Full Time
- Austin, TX, US
Meta
Meta is hiring a Project Manager, Abusive Actor Operations based in Austin, TX. This role sits within Meta’s Global Operations Integrity team, where the work centers on governing how AI and machine learning models make enforcement decisions across Facebook and Instagram at scale. It suits a detail-oriented operations professional with a background in trust and safety, content moderation, or data governance who is comfortable being the final call on high-stakes, ambiguous cases.
About the Role
The Integrity Operations team is responsible for building and maintaining the systems that keep Meta’s platforms safe, which in practice means owning the human review layer that sits above automated enforcement pipelines. Day to day, the Project Manager, Abusive Actor Operations is auditing model performance, adjudicating escalated cases involving potentially abusive content or real-world threats, and managing the expert-labelled datasets that train and calibrate the AI systems making autonomous decisions. This is a human-in-the-loop role at a moment when Meta is actively shifting from scaled human review toward AI-augmented enforcement, and the person in this seat sets the standards that determine when a model acts alone and when a human must intervene.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the final decision-maker on ambiguous, precedent-setting escalations involving abusive actors or credible real-world threats across Meta’s platforms.
- Define and enforce AI oversight frameworks, including the thresholds that determine when ML models can act autonomously and when human review is required.
- Own the quality, precision, recall, and drift measurement of expert-labelled golden datasets used to train and evaluate integrity and support models.
- Audit model and operational data to identify malicious actor behavior patterns, systematic model errors, and enforcement coverage gaps.
- Partner with Engineering, Data Science, and Product teams to improve labeling interfaces and the feedback mechanisms that connect human judgment back into model performance.
- Establish governance frameworks covering quality standards, escalation paths, and compliance guardrails that keep model decisions aligned with policy and regulatory requirements.
What You Bring
- A completed bachelor’s degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience, required before start date.
- Experience in trust and safety operations, content policy enforcement, or AI data governance at a platform or technology company.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large operational datasets and translate findings into actionable enforcement recommendations.
- Familiarity with ML model evaluation concepts including precision, recall, model agreement, and data drift.
- Comfort working across cross-functional teams including engineering, legal, and policy stakeholders on time-sensitive decisions.
Why This Role
Meta is at a genuine inflection point in how it governs AI-driven enforcement, and the Project Manager, Abusive Actor Operations role is central to that shift rather than peripheral to it. The Austin, TX office is part of Meta’s broader expansion of its integrity and operations infrastructure outside of its California headquarters, giving this position real organizational weight. The scope here, owning both the human judgment layer and the data that shapes model behavior, is broader than comparable roles at most companies working in trust and safety.
Apply today for the Project Manager, Abusive Actor Operations position at Meta and bring your operations expertise to one of the most consequential AI governance roles in the industry.
