Job Position(s): Video Editor - Hearst Canvas
Project Type: Short Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Hearst Networks EMEA is hiring a Video Editor for Hearst Canvas, based in London. This role sits within a digitally native content studio focused on social-first video production, with output spanning YouTube long-form episodes, TikTok clips, and Instagram Reels. It suits an editor who has built a real track record in short-form social content workflow and knows how to cut for retention, not just story.

About the Role

Hearst Canvas is the digital content arm of Hearst Networks EMEA, developing original unscripted series and talent-led formats built specifically for social platforms. The Video Editor works across a portfolio of new channel launches, taking raw multi-camera footage from talent shoots through to polished deliverables formatted for each platform. Day to day, that means managing your own post-production workflow from media ingest and sync through to colour correction, captioning, and final export, reporting directly to the Executive Producer on a 3-month fixed-term or freelance contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit full unscripted episodes and cut them down into short-form social clips optimised for YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram Reels performance.
  • Identify narrative beats and strong moments within talent-led rushes to shape compelling, viewer-retention-focused cuts.
  • Manage multi-camera sync, media organisation, and timeline structure across concurrent projects within the post-production workflow.
  • Apply colour correction, audio balancing, captioning, and motion graphics to deliver a consistent, platform-appropriate finish.
  • Maintain repeatable editing workflows and consistent visual branding across all Hearst Canvas channel output.
  • Track social media content trends to inform editorial decisions and ensure factual content performs within each platform’s format.

What You Bring

  • Proven credits editing short-form social video content for YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram at a professional level.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro as your primary editing tool.
  • Solid understanding of pacing, storytelling structure, and viewer retention as applied to unscripted or factual content formats.
  • Hands-on experience editing multi-camera setups, including sync and media management at scale.
  • Confidence handling audio work alongside picture edit, including balancing and clean mix for social delivery.

Why This Role

Hearst Canvas operates with a genuine test-and-launch mandate, which means editors here work on new formats from the ground up rather than maintaining existing output. The studio is hybrid, working two days per week from the Hammersmith office in London. For an editor who wants real ownership over social-first post-production workflow across multiple unscripted formats, this is a direct route in.

Apply now for the Video Editor role at Hearst Networks EMEA and bring your social content editing experience to a team building original digital formats from scratch.
