Job Position(s): VFX Production Manager
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

FOLKS is hiring a VFX Production Manager for their studio in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This role sits at the operational center of VFX delivery, responsible for keeping episodic television and feature film projects on schedule, on budget, and moving cleanly through the VFX pipeline from shot intake to final delivery. It suits a production professional who knows how a VFX facility actually runs and can hold a show together across departments without losing sight of the creative goal.

About the Role

The VFX Production Manager works within FOLKS’ production department, overseeing the day-to-day operational delivery of VFX shows alongside VFX Producers and Supervisors. Projects span episodic television and feature film work produced across the studio’s global network. On any given day, this means running dailies, tracking shot progress in ShotGrid, managing deliveries, and surfacing risks before they become problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain detailed production schedules, allocating resources across departments and adjusting weekly targets as shot counts and priorities shift throughout the VFX pipeline.
  • Identify bottlenecks in render farm usage, cross-department task dependencies, and workflow gaps, escalating issues to the appropriate leads before they impact delivery.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly status reports to clients and internal stakeholders, keeping project risk communication clear and timely.
  • Oversee time and overtime tracking in coordination with Production Coordinators, and flag resourcing needs to the VFX Producer as show demands evolve.
  • Lead and support the Coordinators and Production Assistants on each show, providing feedback, helping onboard new team members, and holding the production team accountable to studio processes.
  • Document lessons learned at the close of each project and work with the VFX Producer to carry best practices forward into future productions.

What You Bring

  • Previous experience in VFX production management on film, television, or advertising projects, with a solid understanding of how shots move through a VFX post-production workflow.
  • Hands-on experience using ShotGrid for production tracking and task management across a live show.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities across a production without dropping communication or schedule accuracy.
  • Experience coordinating across departments including compositing, lighting, FX, and render, with an understanding of how those teams interact.
  • Professional fluency in English; French is an asset given the studio’s Montreal presence within the broader FOLKS network.

Why This Role

FOLKS operates across 10 studios globally as part of the Pitch Black network, which means the production team here is connected to a broader community of VFX talent, technology, and shared expertise across episodic television and feature film pipelines. The Toronto studio offers genuine scope for a VFX Production Manager to own the operational delivery of high-profile projects while working alongside experienced supervisors and producers. The studio has a track record of well over a decade delivering ambitious VFX work, and the production infrastructure reflects that depth.

Apply now to join FOLKS as a VFX Production Manager and bring your production management experience to a studio doing substantial work in Toronto and beyond.
