Job Position(s): Senior Animator / VFX Artist – MONOPOLY GO! New
Project Type: Animation
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Scopely is hiring a Senior Animator / VFX Artist to join the MONOPOLY GO! team in Barcelona, Spain on a hybrid basis. This role sits within the game’s core art department, responsible for delivering polished animation and real-time VFX across props, UI elements, and gameplay assets within a live Unity pipeline. It suits a versatile game artist who has moved comfortably between animation and VFX disciplines and knows how to keep content readable and performant under production constraints.

About the Role

MONOPOLY GO! is the biggest mobile game launch in history by player numbers, and this position supports the live game’s ongoing content output as part of a multidisciplinary art team that includes designers, tech artists, and engineers. Day to day, the work involves creating and tuning animations and particle-based VFX using Emitters, integrating that content into Unity, and iterating quickly based on feedback from across the team. The VFX pipeline here is real-time focused, which means strong instincts around optimization and visual clarity matter as much as raw artistic output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create animations for props, UI elements, gameplay assets, and environments within an established Unity VFX pipeline.
  • Build and tune real-time VFX using Emitters, including particle systems, materials, and shaders suited to mobile performance targets.
  • Integrate animation and VFX assets into Unity using existing tools and documented workflows.
  • Support asset setup, troubleshooting, and technical art tasks as needed across the animation and VFX pipeline.
  • Experiment with AI-assisted tools to accelerate prototyping, exploration, and production across animation and VFX workflows.
  • Maintain animation and VFX documentation to support consistent workflow standards across the team.

What You Bring

  • Five or more years of professional experience in game animation, real-time VFX, or a closely related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with Unity, including asset integration and familiarity with existing animation and VFX toolsets.
  • Proficiency in one or more industry-standard tools such as Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, Houdini, After Effects, or Photoshop.
  • A solid grasp of timing, readability, and visual polish as applied to UI and gameplay animation.
  • Some practical experience with AI-assisted creative tools, with genuine curiosity about where they fit in an animation studio workflow.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English, with a CV submitted in English.

Why This Role

Scopely operates one of the most diverse portfolios in mobile gaming, and MONOPOLY GO! sits at the top of that slate as a live game with a genuinely large global player base. Working inside that production means real creative problems at scale, not internal prototypes or speculative builds. Barcelona offers a strong local game art community, and Scopely’s team structure gives artists direct access to engineers and designers rather than working through layers of production management.

If you are a Senior Animator / VFX Artist ready to work on a high-profile live mobile title, apply to join Scopely’s MONOPOLY GO! team in Barcelona today.
