Senior 3D Animator (Madrid)

Flying Bark Productions is hiring a Senior 3D Animator to work remotely from Madrid or elsewhere in Europe. This role sits inside the animation department, where the focus is character performance, from body mechanics and lip sync through to polished final shots delivered against a production schedule. It suits an experienced character animator who thinks in terms of storytelling and emotional performance, not just technical output.

About the Role

You’ll be animating on a slate that currently includes Netflix’s Ghostbusters animated series, the Stranger Things animated series, and the feature film Zac Power, among other productions. Day to day, that means working to briefs from the Animation Director, interpreting storyboards into performance, and hitting shot deadlines inside a Maya-based CG animation pipeline. The aesthetic benchmark sits somewhere in the stylized, anime-influenced space of Arcane, Entergalactic, and Spider-Verse.

Key Responsibilities

• Animate character performances across episodic television and feature film production, with a focus on facial acting, lip sync, and expressive body mechanics that serve the story.
• Block out animation passes for director review, then revise and polish shots through to final delivery within the agreed production schedule.
• Interpret storyboards and verbal creative briefs from the Animation Director and translate them into sequences involving characters, objects, and cameras.
• Maintain the creative and technical animation standards set for each production, keeping work consistent with the established visual language of the show.
• Apply feedback from the director and lead animator directly to shots, turning notes around efficiently without losing the intent of the original brief.
• Work within Maya across character rigs and animation workflows, flagging rig issues or pipeline problems as they arise.

What You Bring

• A minimum of six years of production experience in 3D animated feature film or episodic television animation.
• A demo reel that demonstrates strong facial performance, character acting, and body mechanics at a professional production level.
• Solid working knowledge of Maya in a studio production environment, including familiarity with character rigs and animation workflows.
• A portfolio that leans toward mature, stylized, or anime-inspired animation work.
• Eligibility to work in Spain, with Spanish-based candidates given priority consideration.
