Job Type
Sony Pictures Animation is hiring a Production Coordinator, Marketing and Custom Animation, based in Los Angeles, California. This role sits inside the custom content and marketing animation pipeline, supporting the production of brand partnership spots, animated promos, and bespoke short-form content tied directly to Sony Pictures Animation’s feature and series slate. It suits a coordinator who has worked inside an animation or VFX studio environment and knows how production tracking, asset management, and cross-departmental communication actually function day to day.
About the Role
The Production Coordinator, Marketing and Custom Animation reports to the Production Manager and works alongside the Custom Animation Producer to keep the department’s daily schedule moving across multiple concurrent projects. These projects range from high-profile consumer products partnerships to animated marketing pieces that serve as audience entry points into Sony Pictures Animation’s feature film worlds. A typical day involves updating production trackers, coordinating between internal departments like Story and Edit and outside studio partners, and managing the flow of digital assets through review and delivery cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update production tracking documents and spreadsheets across active custom animation projects, flagging schedule risks to the Production Manager before they become problems.
- Act as the day-to-day communication link between artists, internal departments, external studio partners, and third-party vendors, keeping asset handoffs and feedback loops on schedule.
- Receive, organize, and deliver digital materials according to established naming conventions, and set up internal and external review sessions including screenings and approval checkpoints.
- Log and track creative approvals from third parties and SPE business units, maintaining accurate records of feedback, pending items, and hard deadlines throughout the animation pipeline.
- Assist in building and updating long lead pitch decks for Consumer Products and Partnerships meetings, preparing and distributing reference materials to relevant business units.
- Handle production administration including purchase orders, invoices, timesheets, vendor paperwork, meeting agendas, and scheduling for department reviews.
What You Bring
- Two or more years of production coordination experience in animation, VFX, or entertainment production.
- Demonstrated comfort with spreadsheet tools and production tracking systems used in an animation studio or post-production workflow context.
- Strong written communication skills and organizational discipline across multiple simultaneous deliverables with tight marketing turnaround schedules.
- Experience managing asset organization and delivery logistics within a studio or agency environment.
- Familiarity with cross-functional coordination across creative, production, and business affairs teams.
Why This Role
Sony Pictures Animation has a production track record that includes the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse franchise and The Mitchells vs. the Machines, a studio genuinely known for pushing what animation pipeline work can look like at a feature film level. The custom content this coordinator supports is treated as an extension of that same creative standard, not a secondary concern. For a coordinator looking to grow inside an animation studio with a visible and respected slate, this is a role with real exposure to both production and creative leadership.
Apply now for the Production Coordinator, Marketing and Custom Animation role at Sony Pictures Animation and bring your animation production experience to one of the most distinctive studios working in the field today.
