This role sits at the center of a broadcast and streaming news operation, responsible for planning and producing the morning news block across linear television, streaming platforms, and social media simultaneously. FOX 26 operates as a streaming-first local news organization, producing content across broadcast, digital, and social platforms around the clock. The morning block is currently ranked number one in the Houston market, one of the most competitive local news markets in the country. A typical day moves between breaking news coverage and severe weather response, studio segment production, and cutting platform-specific content for YouTube, Instagram, and streaming distribution.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, write, and execute the morning broadcast block while simultaneously producing content formatted for streaming and social platforms.
• Operate as the lead creative in the control room during live broadcast, with the ability to pivot coverage in real time during breaking news and severe weather events.
• Develop and pitch original segments designed for multi-platform distribution, including short-form vertical video and streaming-optimized edits.
• Co-manage the station’s digital footprint alongside the digital production team, ensuring segments are cut, captioned, and optimized per platform before and after air.
• Write concise, platform-specific copy across broadcast scripts, digital headlines, and social captions within the same production window.
• Field produce major local news events and contribute to news and sports specials as high-profile projects arise.

What You Bring

• Minimum two years of producing experience in a medium or large market newsroom.
• Hands-on fluency with newsroom production systems, broadcast graphics programs, and video editing software.
• Demonstrated experience producing content for streaming platforms alongside traditional broadcast news workflow.
• Working knowledge of how content performs differently across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
