Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $66,000 - $91,500/year

Netflix is hiring a Post Engineer at its Animation Studios in Vancouver, Canada. This role sits within the Post Engineering team, supporting editorial suites, story and review rooms, and a screening theatre across active animation and VFX pipelines. It suits someone with hands-on post-production workflow experience who is ready to move deeper into technical engineering within a high-end animation studio environment.

About the Role

The Post Engineer works directly within Netflix Animation Studios, supporting the technical infrastructure that editors, artists, and directors depend on daily for production reviews, screenings, and editorial work. Day-to-day, this person handles Tier 1 support across Avid editorial systems, Q-SYS-controlled rooms, and screening spaces running both SDR and HDR colour pipelines. When productions hit key milestones, this role is front and centre for internal dailies, external previews, and Q&A screenings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 troubleshooting and operational support for editorial suites running Avid Media Composer and audio suites running Avid Pro Tools.
  • Operate and support Q-SYS-based room control and DSP systems across review rooms, the screening theatre, and other specialty spaces.
  • Set up, operate, and strike xenon-based digital cinema projectors for internal screenings, production reviews, and external preview events.
  • Verify correct colour space and dynamic range for each screening, including SDR vs HDR and Rec.709 vs P3 formats, flagging any mismatches before playback.
  • Support Autodesk RV and other VFX and animation review tools used across the post-production workflow, diagnosing playback, routing, and peripheral issues at first line.
  • Maintain documentation of room configurations, troubleshooting steps, and system health checks using tools such as Jira or Confluence.

What You Bring

  • 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a post-production, AV, or VFX environment, ideally within an animation studio or feature film production context.
  • Working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Avid Pro Tools at an operational and first-line support level.
  • Practical experience with Q-SYS or similar room automation and DSP platforms.
  • Familiarity with SDR and HDR colour pipelines and common screening formats used in professional post-production workflow.
  • Comfort working evenings and weekends around screenings, events, and critical production milestones.

Why This Role

Netflix Animation Studios is building out a global animation studio infrastructure across three locations, with Vancouver as a key production hub. This Post Engineer position offers direct exposure to high-end screening and review workflows on original animated feature productions, with a team that spans post engineering, technology, and production. For someone looking to grow their technical engineering depth within a major animation studio, the scope here is real.

Apply now for the Post Engineer role at Netflix Animation Studios and bring your post-production expertise to one of the most active animation pipelines in Canada.
