Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

The CUS is hiring a Podcast Video Editor based in Vancouver to join their audio-visual production team. This role sits in post-production, responsible for turning raw podcast recordings into finished episodes distributed across YouTube and Spotify, handling everything from audio cleanup to visual enhancement. It suits an editor with a background in podcast post-production workflow who is comfortable working independently on a consistent weekly output.

About the Role

The Podcast Video Editor works directly with the podcast host and production leads at The CUS on the Comm Street podcast series, shaping raw recordings into polished, audience-ready episodes. A typical week involves audio editing, sound balancing, and layering visual effects and transitions for the video version of each episode. The position runs September 2026 through April 2027 at approximately five hours per week, making it a focused, recurring commitment within a small content production team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and edit raw audio recordings to broadcast-quality standards, including noise reduction, level balancing, and removing dead air or technical errors.
  • Provide on-set technical setup and troubleshooting before, during, and after filming sessions to ensure clean source material enters the post-production pipeline.
  • Apply visual effects, motion graphics, and transitions to the video version of each episode to strengthen viewer engagement and pacing.
  • Manage file organization and version control across the full episode editing workflow, from raw media ingest through final export.
  • Collaborate with the podcast host during the editing process to ensure each episode reflects the intended tone, narrative arc, and production standard.
  • Receive, apply, and follow up on creative feedback across multiple revision rounds without compromising delivery deadlines.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience editing audio and video content, ideally within podcast production, short-form video, or episodic digital content.
  • Working knowledge of audio editing software and video editing platforms with a strong grasp of audio mixing fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of visual effects, transitions, and how editing choices shape the viewer experience.
  • Reliable file management practices and the discipline to deliver polished final content on a fixed weekly schedule.
  • Strong communication skills suited to a close creative collaboration with a host and a small production team.

Why This Role

The CUS offers a consistent editing credit across a full academic production season, giving the right candidate real episodic post-production experience within a structured team environment. The contract runs September 2026 through April 2027, with a clear five-hours-per-week commitment that fits alongside other production work. Applications are due September 20 at 11:59 pm, with a portfolio submission welcomed alongside the standard application materials.
