Job Type
Paramount is hiring a freelance Graphics Production Assistant for CBS Sports, based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. This role sits inside the broadcast graphics department, supporting live studio shows and CBS Sports Digital properties by building and managing the visual assets that appear on air and across digital platforms. It is a good fit for an early-career graphics or broadcast professional who knows their way around a control room and wants real repetitions in live sports television.
About the Role
The Graphics Production Assistant works within the CBS Sports graphics department, supporting daily and weekend broadcasts across one of the most recognized sports television operations in the country, covering everything from NFL and college football to UEFA Champions League and NCAA basketball. A typical shift involves prepping player headshots, team logos, and sponsor assets in Photoshop, loading and operating graphics playout systems during live shows, and creating custom imagery tied to the day’s sports news cycle. The pace is set by the news environment, so turnaround times are short and accuracy on air matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut and process images and video clips using Adobe Creative Suite for integration into the graphics asset database, including player headshots, action shots, and team and sponsor logos.
- Operate the Ross XPression graphics playout system during live broadcast shows, with department training provided for those new to the platform.
- Work within the Inception browser-based rundown system to manage and sequence graphics during production, with training available.
- Design custom graphics and imagery for the studio set that reflect current sports headlines and broadcast newsroom priorities.
- Maintain organized, production-ready asset libraries that meet the turnaround demands of a live sports broadcast workflow.
- Cover weekend shifts as part of the regular rotation, consistent with live sports television scheduling.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, new media, broadcast, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, with working knowledge of Premiere, After Effects, and Illustrator.
- Minimum one year of professional experience, preferably in a control room, studio, or broadcast newsroom environment.
- Familiarity with live sports television production workflows and a genuine working knowledge of sports.
- Ability to execute accurately under the time pressure of live broadcast production.
Why This Role
CBS Sports carries one of the deepest sports broadcasting portfolios in the industry, including the NFL, NCAA Championship, The Masters, and UEFA Champions League, which means the graphics work here is seen by a large audience across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.
