Job Position(s): Full Time Videographer
Project Type: Documentary
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000/year

A private advertiser based in Melbourne, Victoria is hiring a full-time Videographer to work as a dedicated personal content shooter. This role sits outside traditional production structures, operating as a one-person camera department capturing unscripted, documentary-style footage across business, lifestyle, and event contexts for distribution across social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. It suits a camera operator who is comfortable working run-and-gun style, reads moments instinctively, and prefers being on location over sitting in post.

About the Role

This is a solo shooting role with no editing responsibilities. All captured footage is organised and uploaded to Google Drive, then handed off to a remote post-production team for editing and distribution. A typical day involves following the principal through a varied schedule across Melbourne, covering anything from business meetings and events to gym sessions and behind-the-scenes lifestyle content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a professional camera across a range of unscripted, single-shooter content formats suited to short-form and long-form social media output.
  • Maintain consistent standards in audio capture, framing, and exposure across unpredictable shooting environments without technical support on set.
  • Identify and capture authentic, unscripted moments in real time without direction, using a documentary content shooting instinct.
  • Manage daily footage organisation and upload workflows to Google Drive for handoff to the remote editing team.
  • Move between multiple Melbourne locations throughout the week and travel interstate on occasion for events, business trips, and content shoots.
  • Adapt to a shifting weekly schedule, with shoot days that may start early, run late, or change location at short notice.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience as a videographer or camera operator across lifestyle, social media content, or documentary-style production.
  • Confidence operating a professional camera setup, with ownership of your own kit preferred but not required for the right candidate.
  • A working understanding of what performs across social platforms and how to frame and pace footage accordingly.
  • A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for travel across Melbourne shooting locations.
  • Availability and willingness to accommodate a flexible, non-standard weekly schedule as a primary full-time commitment.

Why This Role

This full-time Videographer position offers a salary of $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation, with flexible hours built around a changing production schedule rather than a fixed office week. For a camera operator who wants consistent, well-paid work shooting real-life content rather than chasing short freelance contracts, this is a stable, long-term engagement with genuine variety across Melbourne and beyond.
