AMC Networks is hiring a Director of Employee Development & Learning to join its Human Resources team in New York, NY. This role sits at the center of the company’s talent infrastructure, building the learning and leadership programs that support employees across AMC’s cable networks, streaming services, and studio production operations. It’s a fit for a senior L&D professional who understands how to design enterprise-wide development strategy for a media company with a large, distributed workforce.

About the Role

The Director of Employee Development & Learning sits within the HR function and works across every division of AMC Networks, from the teams producing episodic television under AMC Studios to the streaming and international programming businesses. Day-to-day work involves managing talent review cycles, overseeing learning systems, and partnering directly with senior leaders on performance and coaching culture. This person also leads a small team and manages external vendor relationships that support enterprise talent programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead an enterprise learning and development strategy built around core skills, functional skills, and people management, aligned with company-wide business outcomes.
  • Own performance and feedback practices across the employee lifecycle, including goal setting, development planning, and continuous coaching frameworks.
  • Build and run leadership development programs that strengthen internal mobility and succession readiness for roles across the organization.
  • Serve as functional lead for learning, performance, and talent systems, partnering with People Systems on requirements, reporting, and process improvements.
  • Lead talent review and succession planning processes to identify high-potential employees and build leadership pipelines across AMC Networks.
  • Manage external learning and talent vendors, overseeing contract alignment, program effectiveness, and service delivery against business priorities.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience designing and running enterprise L&D strategy at a media company, entertainment studio, or similarly complex organization.
  • Hands-on background managing talent review, succession planning, and leadership development programs at scale.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and HR talent platforms, including functional ownership of system configuration and reporting.
  • Experience managing direct reports and cross-functional teams through enterprise talent initiatives.
  • Strong track record partnering with senior business leaders on organizational effectiveness and development planning.

Why This Role

AMC Networks operates one of the more varied content portfolios in television, spanning prestige episodic television, genre streaming services, and international programming, which means this role touches learning strategy across genuinely different business units. The Director of Employee Development & Learning has real influence over how the company builds its leadership bench, not just program administration. This is a staff role with direct reports and a seat at the table in HR leadership decisions.
