Company 3 is accepting general submissions for a CG Generalist based in Vancouver, BC, to be considered for future openings as they become available. This role sits within the CG department and covers the full range of 3D production tasks, from hard surface modeling and look development through to lighting, rendering, and effects work within a VFX pipeline. It suits an experienced generalist who is comfortable moving between disciplines on the same production without losing technical or aesthetic quality.

About the Role

The CG Generalist works within Company 3’s Curated business unit, supporting sequences across VFX production with a pipeline built around Houdini for lookdev and shot lighting, rendered through Mantra and Karma. Day to day, this person drives asset setup, manages publishing, and works directly with compositors to keep renders clean and efficient. The role is remote and requires someone who can pivot between projects without losing momentum on either side.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete 3D tasks across hard surface modeling, texturing, shading, lookdev, animation, lighting, tracking, and effects within an active VFX pipeline.
  • Drive the creative and technical setup of assets, ensuring look consistency and optimized render times across sequences.
  • QC lighting setups from other Houdini TDs, reviewing for best practices and render efficiency before shots move downstream.
  • Manage asset publishing and conduct follow-ups to confirm team usability across the production.
  • Work closely with the compositing team to ensure renders are consistent, efficient, and production-ready.
  • Maintain technical and aesthetic quality standards while balancing delivery timelines across multiple active projects.

What You Bring

  • Solid prior experience as a CG Generalist at a VFX studio, with proven ability across multiple CG disciplines.
  • Strong background in character work, mechanical assets, and animation.
  • Working knowledge of Maya, Houdini, Substance, Photoshop, ZBrush, Mari, Nuke, and ShotGrid.
  • Hands-on experience with Houdini-based lookdev and shot lighting, rendered with Mantra and Karma.
  • Demonstrated understanding of CG pipeline structure and how assets move through VFX production.
