Associate VFX Producer Sydney, Australia
- Full Time
- Sydney NSW, Australia
DNEG
DNEG is hiring an Associate VFX Producer to join their Sydney, Australia studio on high-end feature film and television productions. This role sits at the intersection of VFX production management and client-facing coordination, responsible for overseeing shot schedules, resource tracking, and delivery milestones across large-scale shows running multiple Line Producers. It suits a seasoned Production Manager ready to step into a broader remit and take on direct producer responsibilities within a major VFX pipeline.
About the Role
The Associate VFX Producer works within DNEG’s feature film and episodic television division, embedded in productions large enough to require a layered production structure above the standard PM level. Day-to-day, this means running weekly client reports, compiling regional resource files, and working alongside the Producer and VFX Supervisor to keep the show on track from early planning through finals delivery. On the TV side, there is scope to run a smaller show independently under Executive Producer oversight, making this a genuine stepping stone toward a full Producer credit.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Producer and VFX Supervisor to establish the production structure and daily workflow across a large-scale feature film or episodic VFX production.
- Work directly with Line Producers to define delivery milestones for assets, shots, temps, and finals, and produce detailed shot schedules to track weekly progress.
- Own the client weekly report and manage all client-facing communication in coordination with the Producer.
- Check and compile regional weekly resource files, making informed calls on crew allocation and artist resourcing as the show approaches delivery.
- Guide and mentor the wider production team, including junior members not attached to a specific unit, and maintain a productive environment across the floor.
- Troubleshoot creative and technical production challenges as they arise, applying knowledge of the VFX pipeline to find practical solutions under deadline pressure.
What You Bring
- Proven experience delivering VFX sequences at Production Manager level or equivalent on high-end feature film productions.
- Working knowledge of Shotgrid (formerly Shotgun) as a primary production tracking tool.
- Proficiency in Excel and MS Project or a comparable scheduling and project management application.
- Experience with database management and production resource tracking in a VFX context.
- A track record of managing artists and clients across a post-production workflow on large-budget projects.
Why This Role
DNEG is one of the most decorated VFX studios working today, with credits spanning major franchise features and prestige television, and a global workforce of more than 9,000 people across studios in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The Sydney studio offers direct access to that international slate, and the Associate VFX Producer role is structured to provide real progression toward a full Producer position. DNEG has a stated commitment to equitable hiring and welcomes applicants from varied backgrounds, including those who may need adjustments during the application process.
