This role sits at the center of original programming development and production, handling the full range of agreements that move projects from acquisition through greenlight and into production. About the Role

The Associate Corporate Counsel will be embedded in the motion picture group at Amazon MGM Studios, with reach into the scripted television series slate as well. Day-to-day work spans drafting and negotiating the agreements that structure original feature film and episodic television projects, from initial rights options through above-the-line deals and co-production arrangements. This is a high-volume transactional role where legal judgment directly shapes what gets made and how.

Key Responsibilities

• Structure, draft, and negotiate rights option and purchase agreements, acquisition agreements, and co-production agreements across the motion picture and streaming development slate.
• Handle above-the-line agreements for writers, directors, and producers on both feature film production and scripted series projects.
• Manage chain-of-title across an active slate of original programming, identifying and resolving complex rights issues before they reach production.
• Advise creative, business affairs, production, marketing, and publicity teams on intellectual property, defamation, and publicity and privacy rights as they arise in development and production contexts.
• Interpret guild and labor agreements, including WGA, DGA, and SAG-AFTRA obligations, providing guidance on compliance across original scripted projects.
• Build and refine legal frameworks, processes, and policies that support the studio’s original programming operations across film and television.

What You Bring

• A JD and active bar membership, with transactional entertainment law experience at a studio, streamer, or entertainment-focused firm.
• Hands-on experience drafting and negotiating agreements across feature film production and episodic television development.
• Working knowledge of guild agreements covering WGA, DGA, and SAG-AFTRA jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate chain-of-title and underlying rights issues on original and acquired material.
• Comfort advising non-legal stakeholders across creative, production, and marketing departments on real-time legal questions.
