Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Bell Media is hiring a Supervising Video Editor (I) based in Toronto, ON, at their 9 Channel Nine Court facility. This role sits within the post-production and broadcast operations team, responsible for editing and delivering news content across CTV Toronto, CP24, CTV News Channel, Power Play, and National News. It suits an experienced non-linear editor who is comfortable in a live newsroom post-production workflow and ready to take on a lead coordination function alongside hands-on editing work.

About the Role

The Supervising Video Editor (I) works inside Bell Media’s news editing department, supporting daily broadcast output across multiple linear and digital platforms. A typical shift combines direct editing in Avid Media Composer with workflow oversight, peer coaching, and cross-team coordination with Engineering, Operations, and Production. This is a shift-based position with overtime as required, running 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and deliver broadcast-ready content for multiple news properties, ensuring all sequences meet timing, formatting, and audio and video quality standards for air.
  • Operate Avid Media Composer within a production-managed, multi-user networked environment, managing media, project files, bins, sequences, and AAF exports.
  • Distribute editing tasks across the team during assigned shifts, prioritize workflow bottlenecks, and serve as the first point of escalation for editorial and technical issues.
  • Ingest video and graphical elements into the editing system, supporting both the Editing and Ingest teams with technical troubleshooting as needed.
  • Design and refine post-production workflows to improve efficiency as production demands and platform requirements change, and document new methods for the full editing team.
  • Coordinate directly with Engineering and Project teams during technology integrations and lead adoption of new tools across the newsroom editing department.

What You Bring

  • Minimum five years of full-time experience in non-linear editing and advanced television production, ideally within broadcast news or episodic television post-production.
  • Proficiency in Avid Media Composer in a networked, multi-user production environment is required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing post-production workflow across broadcast and digital platforms simultaneously.
  • Post-secondary education with emphasis on technical production standards is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and experience mentoring or coordinating junior editors within a newsroom or post-production setting.

Why This Role

Bell Media operates one of Canada’s largest broadcast networks, with news properties that reach national audiences daily across linear television and digital platforms. The Supervising Video Editor (I) role offers direct involvement in high-volume, high-visibility broadcast post-production, with real scope to shape workflow and lead a team. Compensation is classified under Operations Group 10, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
