Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

ProductionBase is hiring VFX Animators at all experience levels for their studio operation based in London, Ontario, Canada. This role sits within the VFX pipeline, with animators responsible for bringing characters and creatures to life through keyframe and simulation-based animation workflows. It is a strong fit for animators who want to work across varied project types and grow within a team that takes its craft seriously.

About the Role

The animation department at ProductionBase works across projects that demand high-quality character and creature performance, from commercial VFX work to longer-form production content. Day to day, you are in the seat animating shots, taking notes from supervisors, iterating on performance, and delivering work that moves through the broader post-production workflow on schedule. The team is structured to support animators at multiple levels, so the expectations and shot complexity are matched to where you are in your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Animate hero characters and creatures to brief, hitting both technical and performance targets set by the VFX supervisor.
  • Work within an established VFX pipeline using industry-standard rigging and scene assembly conventions to maintain shot consistency across sequences.
  • Receive and action feedback from animation leads and supervisors through dailies, keeping revisions clean and version-controlled.
  • Collaborate with the rigging and effects departments to flag technical limitations and find solutions that serve the shot without breaking downstream processes.
  • Deliver final animation caches and scene files to lighting and compositing on schedule, with proper scene hygiene maintained throughout.
  • Contribute to internal reviews by presenting work clearly and contextualising creative choices against the reference and brief.

What You Bring

  • A working reel that demonstrates character and creature animation with an understanding of weight, timing, and performance.
  • Proficiency in Maya or a comparable 3D animation package used in professional VFX production.
  • Experience working within a structured VFX pipeline, whether from a studio, animation studio, or episodic television production.
  • The ability to self-manage within a shot quota and communicate blockers early rather than late.
  • Applicants at junior levels are welcome, provided the reel shows genuine technical understanding of the fundamentals.

Why This Role

ProductionBase is building a team across experience levels, which means genuine room for animators who are earlier in their careers alongside space for senior practitioners to take ownership of complex shots. The London, Ontario location places the studio within a growing Canadian production market with access to regional tax incentives that support longer production runs. For VFX Animators looking for stability and varied work, this is a practical and credible next step.

Apply now for the VFX Animator role at ProductionBase and submit your reel for consideration.
